Lapwing, Copperhouse Creek

With child number 3 ill off School I could only manage a quick view from the car park at Hayle and Copperhouse yesterday.  The tide was just dropping and there weren’t too many birds about but the weather was superb. Lovely winter sun. The pair of Pintail were still amongst the dwindling Wigeon and Teal flock and the Black-tailed Godwit was feeding with the three Bar-tailed Godwits at Lelant Saltings. Four Med Gulls, including one with a ring (red) on its leg, were amongst 108 Black-headed Gulls. Unfortunately I couldn’t read the ring number. There was still no sign of any larger white-winged gulls or the elusive Ring-billed!

Copperhouse Creek was calm and tranquil and held a good few waders including Sanderling, Greenshank, Redshank, Dunlin, Grey Plover the showy Lapwings shown on the images here. The Water Pipit was also still present.
